In early childhood we scribble across pages of paper, inventing creative and meaningful sign systems that convey our personal worldview. Growing into adulthood we stray from imagery to mostly depend on language as a dominant method of communication and self-expression. Yet language, unlike imagery, is a linear and rigid sign system that defines our realities through technical concepts rooted in visual realism. As a consequence of our reliance on language, we limit our possibilities for creative approaches to expression and understanding that can be obtained by comprehending the vast possibilities of imagery.

Inspired by methods of childhood meaning-making, the book consists of seven different activities that are nostalgic to our childhood experiences. Utilising a variety of modes, we have used narratives that reflect our millennial experience to create content that demands and offers multiple ways of engagement from the audience. We seek to explore how imagery & interactive activities can also be used to create a conversation through collage. Images possess a distinct ability to convey individual perspectives and explore personal levels of meaning that language fails to achieve.
